Curly Quotes Editing Has Moved to Substack
Plus a few other new things!
Hello, friends!
It’s been a long, long time, but I’ve not been idle!
As you can see, I’ve moved my newsletter to Substack. This decision came after I made the choice to split my blog between my author website and my editing business. This yet-to-be-properly-named newsletter will serve as an avenue to both sides of my work.
Book reviews, general writing advice, and insight into this writer’s life now live on my author site! (Don’t mind the “under construction” signs. I’m working on it. The blog is fully functional.)
Blog posts regarding editing, editing tips, and recommended books for writing, editing, or the craft in general still live on the main Curly Quotes Editing website.
But why the split???
Well, mostly it’s for my own sanity: I like being hyper-organized, and my writing and editing life bleed into each other a lot. Another part of me wants to share as much as I can with you! And one last reason: I run my business under my legal name: Anna Keesey. I write under a pen name: Anna Faúndez.
Okay, cool, why a pen name?
Not to hide my identity, obviously. Nope.
The reason is a sentimental one. The lovely human being I’m marrying—in two months!!!—comes from a culture (Chilean) where couples don’t take each other’s last names. As a U.S. citizen, it’s common practice for couples to either take on the last name of one spouse or hyphenate. It’d be weird in my fiancé’s culture for me to do that, so I stole one of their names for my pen name! (With enthusiastic permission, don’t worry. All good.)
